I just purchased a 1991 freedom 190 four winns with a 4.3 omc cobra drive. I have a problem when I put it in reverse, the motor dies. I know the interrupter switch hangs when it goes into reverse. Everything works fine in forward. I adjusted the cables like the manual said (find some pics of a manual on here) and still the same problem. When I put the boat in reverse, I can go back there and barely move the arm that engages the switch and it will disengage the switch. I want to think that spring is not strong enough anymore but I have no clue. I have also read that the lower shift cable could be the problem too. Suggestions?
