I JUST PURCHAED A 1988 1.6 LITRE SEA DRIVE ON A 17 FT PROLINE CENTER CONSOLE. JUST WONFERING IF THERE ARE ANY SPECIAL THINGS I SHOULD BE AWARE OF ON THE SEA DRIVES. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL OTHER OMC OUTBOARDS OVER THE YRS AND I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THOSE OTHER MODELS. THE SEA DRIVE SEEMS TO RUN FINE AND HAVE GOOD COMP. ANY THING I SHOULD LOOK FOR ON THESE. THANKS.

Re: OMC SEA DRIVE QUESTION

Pro Line was famous for mounting them too low but if it lived this long its probably OK if all the standard stuff checks out (compression, rpms, gear oil etc).

BTW -- please dont shout (ALL CAPS), I have a headache. :D Thanks!!

Re: OMC SEA DRIVE QUESTION

I have a pair of 1987's. I have had this rig for 12 years and haven't had the first problem with the SeaDrives. The powerhead is pretty much the same as any other V4. Mine are rated at 110 hp & suspect your is the same. I have repainted mine last summer:

If you ever have to do any repair or maintenance I strongly recommend that you get the OMC shop & parts manuals. I got mine here:

http://www.theoutboardwizard.bizhosting.com/parts_service_and_owners_manuals.html
