Is it possible to use an evinrude or johnson outboard minus the tilt/trim on a seadrive bracket? i have done some searching, but I cant find anything. I have a 1.6 litre seadrive, and I am looking at possible repower options for more power.

If it is doable, will a V6 outboard mount to the 1.6 bracket?

thanks in advance.

What year is your Seadrive and what kind of performance are you getting now? Also info on the boat??

The Seadrive will accept most non Seadrive OMC powerheads in certain years. The 1.6L is @ 110 hp and is a bubbleback. They also had a 2.0L V4 and V6s. The problem is with the word "most".

For what it is worth I have a pair of 1988 1.6Ls that I have had for 13 years with zero problems with the Seadrive assemblies. I understand that parts are hard to come by should you need them.

The boat is a 20' Sportcraft cuddy. I am basically looking for a little more speed. 110 hp for that boat is a little low.

The only powerheads that bolt up to that mid section are V4 crossflows. Most folks will do away with the Sea Drive and install a bracket. Then you can put any outboard you want on it. That will also increase the value of your boat dramaticaly.

Is that a hint by chance?
