Hello, I just bought an OMC seadrive and was looking to pick up some spark plugs for it. I usually have no problems finding the year/hp from the model number but the only thing I've found in the last hour or so searching is a post on this site. He had the same question but it was never really answered. I was told it was a 150hp but the 150 would be a 6cyl not a 4cyl.

my model number is 983285 and serial is J292260. I'm guessing, from the posts I've read, that its an early 1980's 4cyl 115hp but I'm not sure. The info plate was mounted on the bracket not the motor. I know that mercury has different serial numbers for Canadian and US models, did OMC do the same with their seadrives?

I was also wondering the weight, the info I found says around 500lbs. i want to hang it off the back of a 16' sidewinder but don't want to sink the boat. It used to have a 175hp evinrude on it before i picked it up.

Thanks

As far as I know the power head on the seadrive is a omc v4 crossflow no different than any of the other crossflow power heads.

Since yours is a 4cly it will weigh less than the 175v6

BRP.com has all the info you will need on your eng.

The model number does not appear to be valid. A sea-drive model number has many letter in it, like 1CCXCR
