Well,
Finally got it like it right. After looking into the NEW CDI ESA fix with some type of ballast resistor and than the electronic Dizzy with a diode fix, and even the delco EST system which so many marine mechanics said to just stay away from. I have finally put togather what is working and firing like mad. I took the old prestolight dizzy out and put in a Mallory YL624AV / points and than I hooked up a Mallory HyFire 6 EZ Digital Ignition Box 6855M that would be triggered by the points, man you take about (["]fire in the hole[/]) well rest assurd there is a difference from running with the points and than hooking up the mallory HyFire box. So this was my solution to the OMC electronic Dizzy HEI,pertronix, EST delco Voyager, CDI, Diode, crap. I have the shifting that's just perfect and the snap to attention spark that will do you in. Now if the box ever did go out while at sea I just unhook one coil wire and place it back on the dizzy and now I'm just doing points which is OEM and I'm still good to go. I wish I would of thought of this before. Yes I have extra set of Mallory Points/condenser/rotor/cap in a water proof bag stored on the boat and this is all in the vortec 350 with the roller HT GM 383 camshaft and 1.6 full roller rockers with comp springs and new stainless valves and fresh water cooling and yes have to have a mini marine starter and even carry a spare on board because it's so light. Holley marine $ barrel carb. I have to give all the credit to the wonderful info that I have attained through this site. I could of never figured out a lot with out reading all the post that are here.I believe in you guys. Sorry for typing a lot but maybe this can save some poor guy from trying to put Electronic ignition in place of his points on that OMC set ESA? interuppter that just wasn't designed for it.
