OMC Shifting Problem

I have a 86 OMC 5.0L Cobra. It is hard to shift out of gear with the engine running. If I turn the engine off, it shifts easily. I seem to remember reading that there was a problem with the Cobra drives with shifting that was a linkage problem. Now I can't find where I read it. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the shift linkage on this OMC drive? Or point me to a link to fix it?

Thanks,
Danny

Re: OMC Shifting Problem

Before you start messing with the shift cables I would definatly check and see if the ESA is working. From what you are describing I would say it's not. Makes all the difference.
