Hi guy's,
i have replaced some items on my 3.0 OMC :
- New petronix ignitor
- New Petronix coil
- New Sierra spark plug cables
- New Champion spark plugs
- New CDI shift assist module
- New Sierra thermostat + seal
I had a leak in my boat, so water was allowed to come in my bilge and the water level reached my starter motor a few times.
The good news is that no water have come into my oil.
Yesterday i put a fully chargerd 72 AH battery in it and try to cranck.
All i heard was ''click''.
and someties it rattles.
I gues that is de benix.
I have removed the starter motor and that is a real pita to reach.
The bendix looked like new and i lubed it with oil.
I can pull up the bendix with a screwdriver easy.
Ive also cleaned everything up and put it back in.
The cable connections for the starter were dirty and a bit rusted.
So i grabbed sanding paper and let them blink again.
Long end story : it still cliks and sometimes it rattles, but i still can't cranck the motor.
Does that mean that i need a new starter ?
The spark plugs are out now, and i can turn the flywheel easy with a tool.
So the motor is not locked.
BTW, this is my boat on trailer with my '85 Mercedes W124 pulling it :
