If there's a lot of corrosion areas, you'll want to sand it down to clean aluminum. 100 grit will allow a good bond.
Prime it right away after sanding, bare aluminum oxidizes very quickly.
The universally accepted primer for aluminum is zinc chromate, but I've had very good results with 2 part epoxy. After that, a light sanding with ~220 and then spray a good quality automotive enamel, or base/clear.
