Ok I took my boat to the shop because after taking out the old depth finder the boat would not start. Its a 1989 four winns with a omc 4.3. The guy at the shop where it is currently says he put the wires back and gauges are working but the boat still wont start. I'm out 200 bucks at this poiint now and he says its probably the starter. Not sure if i should continue with this as its running into money. Any suggestions on what I shoud do next? Could it of messed up the starter crossing wires.

If it is like mine (stringer ) there are two big ones one is for the trim the other for the starter they sit on top of the engine (inline ) going to the solnoids

Would it be possible to find a mechanic who isn't guessing at the problem? Sounds like you need to go get it back no matter what direction you choose.

Yeh took a chance with this guy. Not feeling real good seems he's just running up a bill. Its hard to know who to take one to. I'm new to boat repair.

Ok when you turn the key their is a clicking sound assuming the starter. Does this mean the starter is bad? I had an overheating prob 2 or 3 months back and the mechanic who fixed it put another lower unit on the drive and the boat ran fine. A month ago the same day i took the boat to the lake and it would not start i discovered a yellow fluid leaking from the drive. Can this have anything to do with any of these starting probs.
