I've been trying to replace the shift cable on my old omc stringer 400 drive but the availability of a new cable is limited. so my only option at the moment is to replace the actual cables themselves. the only problem I have is I do not know how the cables are routed around the pullies in the lower unit and no one seems to have a diagram on of it because when the part was available it came assembled already as part of the cable. if anyone has one around and could take a picture with the cover removed that would be awesome. i found one site with information on it but the pictures were red x's of doom and it didnt describe exactly how the cables run around the pully.
