While on my refurbing campaign, I also want to replace the seal on the Exhaust Housing that the Upper Gear Case sits on since it is showing some cracks. I have found the seal on the internet but have had no luck in finding a kit that includes the seal. Does it come in a kit or am I going to have to settle for a $32+ shipping charge for the seal by itself? The OEM Part# is 308596. I have a 75-76 High Profile Drive. There is an indication that the seal was used on a number of model years.

I do not think a kit was ever available for that. You were stuck buying the whole thing.

You can purchase 308596 from your local BRP dealer.
They may not stock it,but can order it.All BRP warehouses show them in stock.$36.05.

In inspecting it, what should be looked for to detrmine whether it should be replaced or not?

Make sure it has no knicks or cuts, and that it isn't brittle and flaky.Cracks are not good.

Thanks DHP. Cracks it has. I will get it on order and install it after painting the Outdrive
