Hello. My boat has a 3.8l v6 motor in it and runs a OMC Stringer Drive.
The motor is good and the drive is good. The trim that actually raises the motor cylinders stop working. Not the Tilt outside the boat that quickly raises the drive up or down. I talking about the Fine tuning Trim that slowly lowers your motor/gable/drive all together.
It was working then suddenly stopped. Also the pump on the motor still runs but doesn't move. I found a plug on the side of the pump and pulled it nothing came out. Do I need to just add more fluid? Like I said it was working then stopped.. but the pump still works. just not pressurized?
-Also it doesn't have a reservoir supply. its just its own system that is piped into the two cylinders on each side of the motor. No lines going to a reservoir at all.. so I think its self contained unit.. The pump is mounted on the inside of the boat on the motor block.

Should I just add fluid? and if so.. What kind?
-Thanks

With my unit i had recieved all the pieces dry ( zero fluid) i could never get it to bleed and pump. What i did was made a hose adapter for the fill port (the screw on the side of the body) and attached the other end to a bottle and let it gravity feed while i kept cycling up and down and also opening/closing bypass until it would go all the way up and down with power. Then with the rams extended i undid the hose adapter and let the extra fluid drain out. You shouldnt have that problem but if you do thats what i did

If it needs fluid then there is a leak. Feel around the lines and under the rams for fluid.
