I have an 86 omc cobra with a 305. The tilt guage worked when i got it, but then it started to quit working when the drive was at a certain angle and now it doesnt work at all. I was wondering what could be wrong?? guage, switch, sensor? thanks rod

more than likely the trim sensor at the transom. Easy to check, just unplug it and test resistance, or you can jumper the terminals it plugs into, it should make the gauge peg.

Black plastic disc attached to the pivot housing with 2 bolts, unfortunately they are no longer available the last time I checked (this past fall).

Mine doesn't work either... although I can't see a really important reason to have it work either.. not a reason worth $70 at least.

You can easily hear the instant the drive hits it's highest or lowest level.

I got one locally 8 months ago, they are still available, if you do get one;
trim until your mph and tach are optimized-remember the sound of that sweet spot, then you won't need it when it craps out in one season.
