Continued from "OMC to Merc with Seacast pt. 1" at
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=225270
I fastened another piece of laminate board inside for a form, then sealed the seams with spray foam as a precaution against leaks. The foam probably wasn't necessary. The laminate stops 2/3 up to make access for pouring. I screwed another piece on later and poured the remaining Seacast from a small pitcher. There's only ~6" of room above, the deck is above it.
I had 5? gal of Seacast, split it in 2 pails for easier mixing.
I had sprayed the laminate with mold release, it came off with just a slight tug the next day.
I had painted the edges of the template to make it smooth; bad idea. The Seacast got so hot it melted the paint, made it stick.
A new transom, 2-1/8 thick. It extends lower and wider at the bottom, is not visible. I will glass/resin over the surface, then epoxy paint the whole area.
