OMC to Mercruiser Shift plate ESA

I have a 1993 Marlin with a 4.3 OMC motor with a SEI outdrive.

I did the SEI conversion, and it was recommended to also change out the shift plate to a mercruiser. I wired up the switch to the negative side of the coil and a good ground, for some reason I have no spark in the neutral position. But if I was to move the V part to simulate taking the boat out of gear I can get spark. Will any of the wiring from the old shift plate interfere?? If so, what can I disconnect to make this work? It looks like I have the new one wired correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,...... It sounds like the shift plate has a normally closed switch, when it should be a normally open switch,.....

So I’m assuming the one I purchased is the incorrect one New Mercury Mercruiser Quicksilver Oem Part # 864364A 1 Shift Plate Kit. Do you know the correct one that will work?

Ayuh,..... I donno the part numbers,..... But,.....

You need an early model shift plate, not a late model shift plate,.....

The switches, switched a few years back,.....
