OMC to Motorguide wiring

I just picked up an used Motorguide Brute 750 (circa 1988?) It is a 12/24 model with 41 lbs thrust. The 12/24 switch is in the foot pedal. My boat (1990 OMC Javelin) was originally fitted with a 12V OMC Cobra. The boat was factory wired to be 12/24 capable with the selector switch wired at the bow. I have two sets of 6 ga. cables from front to rear and a 4 prong plug-in at the bow.

I can see how to disconnect the 12/24 switch at the bow, but I will have only three wires coming from the Motorguide. Will I need to use a jumper to connect the one black wire to the two ground connections? Won't this interfere with 24v operation?

Thanks in advance,
Marc

Re: OMC to Motorguide wiring

Problem solved. I replaced the plug and receplacle with an Attwood (three prong) set. It came with a wiring diagram for a typical 12/24v system. I also picked up a 19" 6 ga. jumper.
