I need help diagnosing a problem on my 1995 Evinrude 115. The trim switch on the shift/thottle controls only works in the down position. However, the trim switch on the motor works both up and down. Could this still be a relay problem, I don't know if the two switches work on different relays or not? If not, I would imagine the trim switch on the shift/throttle control is the issue? Does anyone have a diagram or schematic of the shift/throttle control? Thanks for the help!

Re: OMC Trim Swtich??

i had the same problem on my johnson 110. i ended up replacing a wire from the tilt/trim switch at the controls to the trim relay terminals. if you have the book for your motor it will have detailed trouble shooting proceedures and diagram. you could check for power on the green and blue wires in the relay panel while some operates the switch. it uses both relays in both directions so it probably not the relay. probably the switch or a wire. hope this helps until some with knowledge replies.

Just had the same problem a few months ago. Two screw took the shift handle apart. Sprayed some contact cleaner inside the switch and wiggled it up and down a few times and it has been OK ever since. To check it just cross the switch terminals on the ends, the center should be common. It is that switch or the wiring to it or it would not work right with the onboard motor switches.
