Omc Trouble

we have a 1988 2855 ceria, omc out drive 460 ford.

we have a problem with shifting in forward and reverse when under power.

turn the engine off and control cables work fine.:eek

has any one had this problem before?

we need help on this one.

There's switch called an ESA. It's supposed to interupt the ignition spark when shifting gears to allow it to go in easier.
