OMC - Volt Meter

I currently own a 1992 90Hp Johnson that has all original gauges on the dash. Late last year the volt meter stopped functioning properly. For some reason, once the key is turned or the boat is running for that matter, the needle gets pinned at the highest level which is 19 (I believe) I pulled the cluster of gauges out of the center console to see if there may be a short somewhere, and it didn't appear as though there was any. Everything also looked to be hooked up properly. Again, it was working all last year. Are there any areas that I can check to do some troubleshooting ? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to iboats Striper!

Just for grins, disconnect the volt meter and just put battery voltage across the terminals. If it pegs, likely the meter has quit.

From your post, does the gage peg even when you just turn the key on?

Yes the gauge pegs, even when the key is turned on (motor not running) Does this mean anything ?

Probably the gage is bad. Disconnect it and just put battery voltage across it. See what it does.
