Hello all... When i start the engine first thing it makes a extremely loud squeal for about the first 1-2 minutes. I looked into this and was recomended to change the altenator belt so i did that and tightend the rest of the belts as well. It still makes that squeal when i first stat it no matter what. It also does it when i am underway and i trim out the outdrive. I am lost as to what this could be any suggestions? I got close to it yesterday and it seemed as if it was coming from the side opposite the altenator, down close to the impeller.

What is the full model number or serial number of your engine?

I apologize for my ignorance but the boat is back in the storage building and have not had a chance to run over there to gett the serial number. I know it is the Volvo Penta 3.0 SX Cobra... the boat is a 1997 Four Winns Horizon Qx if that helps any.

Ok so i looked up the model number on the side of the engine and it is as follows
Model No: 302CPLKD
Serial No: T01302001

I did take it out sunday and the drive/serpentine belt broke on me and had to get towed back in... I am looking for the exact replacements for all 3 belts on the engine. I bought a altenator belt already off of Volvopentastore.com and it is the wrong size so i am not sure if they sent it to me in mistake or if it was for a different model engine. Any help would be great.

I see one of your problems, you have an OMC version during the period Volvo and OMC were involved in the joint venture.
Can tell by both the model and serial number styles.

While most parts are the same between Volvo and OMC, not all are, and obviously that belt is one of those that isn't the same. Go to the link below for OEM part numbers.

BRP -- Parts Catalogs

I'm also going to move this over to the OMC forum.

One thing you mentioned that I didn't address is the broken belt, you shouldn't have a serpentine belt with your model engine, you should have 3 separate V belts. One for the Power steering, one for the raw water pump, and one for the alternator and circulation pump.

Here is what a serpentine belt would look like.

This is what your LK model should look like.

Don... you are the man! That link is a huge help for parts moving forward. I called the Volvo Penta Store 800 number yesterday and spoke with a rep that was able to explain the OMC venture and ordered me the 3 belts out of that catalog. So now that i have the link to the site ordering should be a breeze. Thank you for your help!
