OMC vs Volvo sterndrive

Hello.

My 1994 Chris Craft 238 Concept Cuddy has an OMC 5.8 EFI engine and OMC sterndrive.
Are these sterndrives the same as the Volvo SX sterndrives. As I understand Volvo produced the sterndrives for OMC from the end of 1993.

I have been looking into OMC outdrives for my brother and find that the 1984 and ealier OMC was called a stinger and has a big square rubber boot around it .Also it is white. These are not real Cherry , weak and troublesome. The Cobra SX is a later product that come out in the 90's with the help of Volvo Penta. The cobra series drives are Hydraliclly trimmed and are strong if the shift cable is adjusted perfectly. The King Cobra was even stronger !
