I have a 4.3L OMC I/O with a water leak that from what I can see is coming in through the hole at the bottom of the "V" in the Bearing Plate. Motor runs fine. noticed the problem this year when put boat in water for first time in 2 years.

The engine is a 4.3L OMC Cobra 1988. According to my OMC Cobra 4.3L Parts Catalog on Page #17, the "V" plate is #39 on my exploded view of parts of the Transom Plate, Fly wheel and Mounts. It is actually on the inferior aspect of the transom plate on the inside of the boat. P/N 912715.

There are three holes in this bearing plate-- 2 are for bolts to attach to the lower part of the transom and the third hole is at the point of the "V" approximately 10mm in diameter. This is the hole where the water is running in from.
I don't know if something is to go into the hole and is missing or if the water is an indication that a seal or gasket has been compromised.
