Re: OMC???

OMC is the Outboard Motor Company. It was a merger of Evinrude, Johnson, and Elto Outboard motor companies. It formed in 1929, but from the histories I read, they did not acquire Johnson until 1935. OMC went bankrupt in 2001. Bombardier purchased the names and rights to Johnson and Evirude motors and some of their newer technologies. Bombardier supports only the late models of Evinrude and Johnson.

Re: OMC???

Sorry, I would not even guess on that. Someone else should be able to tell you. You may want to post that question in another post so the question is out there. Good luck

Big He,

Yes, your '73' Johnson was manufactured by OMC. If you are referring to repair manuals, be careful. Some manuals that say 'OMC' may be referring to OMC stern drives (I/O's).

By the way, other than paint, Johnson and Evinrude engines of the same year and horsepower were identical.
