Re: on board power?

You could probably get by with one of the smaller, 1.5-2.0KW quiet running portable generators and a carry-on A/C, which mounts over the hatch. Depending on brand, the gennie will run anywhere from $400-$1000 and the A/C deals are all over the place. Best to look around. The gensets just mount on the transom or swim step/platform. If you do run a generator of anysort, PLEASE PLEASE install a 110v/12v Carbon Monoxide detector.

Yes, it's easier & cheaper to use a power inverter. After roughly 2-4 hours, your batteries will be dead as a doornail unless you keep your engine running all of the time. Now, if you are only planning to use it when you are driving around, then an inverter will work just fine.
