i put an alternator conversion kit on i winterized motor and stern realized another problem boat is hard to start meaning no gas in carb (only when sitting for a period ) when i tried to start motor to pump antifreeze in it would not start and battery went dead charged back up still would not start i poured some gas in carb started right up and ran great. so does this mean i got a carb problem do i need to rebuild carb or is the fuel pump not working properly why is the motor hard to start when sitting for a period

p.s. boat was hard to start on other occasions not just winterizing but battery held out enough to start and gas got to carb is there a way to choke the carb or do i have a problem mentioned above

Run a pressure test on your fuel pump.. May have a stuck float in the carb.. Once you get it running will it stay running?

:DI had somewhat the same problem after my boat sat for a while. I solved it by putting a squeeze bulb on my gas line anout 18" in front of my carb. Before I start it after it has been setting a while I give the bulb 3-4 squeezes and it starts right up. Worked for me.

No. And there is no need to epoxy anything on a Q-jet built after 1967...drop the JB Weld and slowly back away...
