Help, I am on vacation and tried to go out on my 2006 Baylier 215.
It's a Mercuser 5.0 with Alpha one. The trim will not go up or down.
It worked every now and then out of the blue. But now it wont work at all.

Oil good.
Voltage good.
Switch good.
Solanoids seem to pass 12v when using up/down switch.

Please help....

Re: On Vacation (Trim Problems)

if the wires that go to the pump can be removed at the pump, remove and clean them. since you say the voltage is good at the solenoids, (in and out)you could check with your meter for voltage at the pump, although I would think a locked up pump would blow a fuse...

Re: On Vacation (Trim Problems)

I doubt the pump is stuck. The fluid runs in a closed system. Your issue is most likely a bad connection or a bad component. I'd guess a solenoid.

I have been able to jump current past the solenoids in a pinch, or to trouble shoot. In a real bind I have removed the trim pin from the drive and tied a sling to go home.

How does the pump work? It has three wires.
I assume the black is neg 12 volts.
Are the others for 12v Pos one or the other for pump direction?

Re: On Vacation (Trim Problems)

First. Slow down and calm down. Follow the procedure in the manual below find what your problem really is. If you just start throwing parts at it for no reason except you hope it cures your probem, then you will spend all vacation working on it, instead of a couple of hours.

Read the index to find your exact problem

Re: On Vacation (Trim Problems)

Thank you for your help.
The trouble shooting guide helped.
It was a bad ground cable.
Thanks, you saved my vacation.:)
