Hey All,

I have a 24v system on my boat, with a Guest 5/5 Onboard charger.

When I plug in the charger, should I be removing the battery caps?

Should I plug in the charger, and leave it pluged in over the winter?

How often do you normally check the acid/water mix in the battery?

Thanks,

Re: Onboard Charger Questions

Unless your doing a rapid charge I don't see a need for removing the caps. When keeping a charge on my batteries in a "maintenance mode" I don't bother with removing them. Every fall and spring I check the water level in my batts and add distilled water if necessary. Other than that, I just leave them plugged in for the winter. Going on 5 years for the same three batts now.

I do the same. Plug it in and check the cells periodically. Never had to add water in the past but it never hurts to check.
