Hi,I posted earlier about orifice(jet)location due to one carb having different jets,Thanks for all the help! When I got new matching jets for the oddball carb and when building them I noticed that one of the carbs had a smaller throat(about 1/8 in smaller)than the other 5  .New problem  .Now I need to know if it will hurt the motor (lean cyl) by running a smaller carb on one cyl? The motor is a 93 225 Rude model E225TXETF.I bought the boat last summer while in the keys, the guys I bought it from had been fishing and lobstering for two days(caught a nice Marlin). We went for a sea trial and boat ran good.I have fished the boat burning about 100 gals of gas myself. The reason for building the carbs was it idled rough and cut off sometimes. The oddball carb had 35-42-62D jets and I have put 30-66-64D jets to match the others,I have ran the motor this week and it runs a lot better than before :) just need to know if I should change the carb to match, leave the carb with matching jets,or put the other jets back in like they were before? Thanks

Well, my 50 hp 1986 Johnson has two different sized carb throats as well, and I am pretty sure they are original equipment. As well as two different sized jets.

It runs good, been running good for ages, and it still runs good. No sign of any problem with mine at all.

Not sure this is a technical answer, but if it runs good, and is getting full power, I doubt you have any problem.

I'd make sure you put the proper carb in the proper spot, of course.

Hi Klbusbee

I dont think you should change the jets. Jets fits as well carbs as motors. They are calibrated from airflow and vacuum. Changing them can cause BIG problems. Someone should be able to tell you if there should be a difference in carbs - but I doubt its from the birth. Suggest you get the right carb from a scrapyard if you want to change anything.
