One carb kit or two?

I have a 1967 9.5 hp Johnson. It's running weird, runs ok in neutral and reverse, but in forward it dies, unless I pull the choke, then it bogs up and down. So, it's not getting gas. I was dumb and didn't clean the carbs at the end of last year, so I'm assuming I need to do a carb rebuild. I've never fixed anything on an outboard, but I am pretty good with mechanical type stuff once I get going. My question is, do I only need one carb kit or two, since its a 2 cylinder? By the look of this diagram, page 4:

I should only need one kit? Thanks!

Oh, and I can't find this carb kit anywhere online. A marina by me has one left, for about $29, is that a good deal? Or is there maybe an equivalent kit from a later year motor? The oldest I can find online is 1968.

You only need 1 kit.
Get the part number for the 67 and compare it to the 68, I think they are the same, but would have to compare numbers.

And with the money you saved on a second kit I would urge you to buy an OMC service manual. You'll be glad you did. Your problem does sound like it's your carb. Best of luck. Rick.

Thanks. Quick question about the manuals. iboats has a service manual by Seloc that covers a wide range of motors, and the original owners manual. A marina by me has a Clymers manual that covers a wide range of motors. Do you have any experience with either of the non-original manual brands? And does the original owners manual even have repair steps in it, for stuff such as carb repair? Thanks!

both those manuals are a waste of money...lack of info ..they cover a vast area of motors so the info on yours will be short and brief....

you will be better off with the OMC manual just for your engine...more detailed...

look on ebay for your manual....sometimes you get a good deal on them there....
