1993 Evinrude, 70HP VE70TLETS - Bottom cylinder not firing - Coil is good, moved it to the other cylinder to test and it does not fire.
Is this a power pack issue?

I do not have a DVA meter( I have a multimeter only)

Compression is 120 across

can't say i know much about it, so i can't be of much help. but did you check the spark plugs? make sure the wire to the plug on the lower cylinder is good?

a way to test them is to remove the plug, leaving it attached to the wire, and hold the end of it against the block. then try to start the engine, you should see a spark.

if power pack gets replaced and the problem still exists, then what else needs to be looked at?

No Spark On One Cylinder

Either faulty power pack or ignition coil - THIS IS OUT OF THE GUIDE -

Where can I find a Power Pack that doesn't cost so much??

Odds are you have a faulty power pack since you already ruled out the coil. What the trouble shooting guide doesnt say, in so many words, is that each cylinder has its own circuit through the timing base (trigger). If just one circuit was bad you can have no spark to just one cylinder, thats why I stated that you needed to check the resistance though each circuit of the trigger before replacing the power pack. Odds are you have a bad power pack, that is the most common part to fail and give the symptoms you have. As for a cheap powerpack, try ebay there are several 3 cylinder one one ebay right now.

Um, am I reading this wrong? He says the coil is good, but he moved it to another cylinder and it does not fire? Sounds like a coil to me if the coil does not fire anywhere.

Something to add to the pot - If the pack is bad, would the Top end speed be slower/not as powerful? I'm thinking back when I last had it out.. It seemed that at 5k rpm the power just wasn't there.. like it was slower than normal.

The OEM replacements are #584,808, #585,145, & #5004532.

The Teleflex/Sierra replacement is 18-5774.

The CDI Replacement is 113-4808.

The aftermarket prices are all over the place, so shop hard.
