my '93 Evinrude 140 looper runs great but i started it today on the hose and earmuffs and let it run for a while and noticed one head was hotter than the other. the starboard head was warm but i could touch it but the port head was too hot to touch for more than a second or two.

it was pumping water, has a new water pump and thermostats and the overheat alarm was not going off (i know it works). the water out of the tell tale was barely warm at all.

also the water passages in the heads looked great last time i had the heads off. i assume this is not normal?

Re: One Hot Head

You can not test engine and cooling on the muffs.
Get the boat launched or run in a barrel to get a correct picture.
