Thanks for answering my previous Sure lube hub question. I have one more question to ask about it. Later this week i found grease spattered on the inside of one of my wheel wells meaning I have trashed a seal. I'm probably gonna take it to a shop to have seals replaced on both wheels plus bearings. Is it standard or good practice to strip down any lube system even though they say its not required? After everything is replaced, could I get in the habit of just pumpin grease into the zerks?

If ther is grease coming out on the inside then you probably put to much in and it has to go somewhere.
Im not familiar with the surelube, but if they are like a BB then all you need to do is add grease until the plunger is about 1/2 way out ish. then watch it and add as needed.
For me i never use any of these, I go with the old fashioned way and remove and repack every winter before i put it away. I do this with all 3 of my trailers and have never had a problem. But thats me.

Re: one more surelube question

surelubes dont have a piston. there are holes drilled in the spindle so it pushes grease all around and through the cages. it sounds like your seal is gone not hard to do yourself. The only thing is i would pre pack the bearings with some grease to get a close to correct preload. thats if you replace them. well i guess if you reuse your old one and you clean them out you would have to prepack them also. just DON'T blow them dry with compressed air it hurts. ( they explode) dont ask:D

Just tear them down, repack and replace the rear seal. Then don't be so aggressive with the grease in the future - a little dab will do ya, you know.
