1993 200 hp evinrude ( carbs ) when starting for the first time, hard to start when eventually fires runs, then when given throttle dies as if starving for fuel. lines are clear , no water in seperator. after 2 or 3 times engine will start and run good. is this a carb problem or a fuel pump issue??

Are you waiting until the motor comes out of Quick Start? What plugs, grade and age fuel and what oil ratio?

Good luck!

Re: one more time

DHadley,1993 recently rebuilt 200hp evinrude, fuel is fresh, doesn't have time to get out of quick start, pretty much slowly dies. then you pump the throttle 2 or 3 more times and try and start her again, this process goes on for two or three times and eventually she runs.My concern is that I don't want to spend 200.00 on a new vro/fuel pump if it could be something else. no water in line, fresh fuel, fresh oil(vro fed). no kinks in the fuel line??????

OK, how old is the fuel? What grade is it (87, 93)? Are the thermostats in place? What brand and type are the plugs?

Lets start with the basics then we'll look at what may or may not have been done when it was rebuilt.

Let us know!
