Love those old wood boats, there are a ton of them on the lake we use - each one beautiful and different.

Usually when someone posts about a one of a kind boat, it is some oddball mfg that made a glass boat in the 60's/70's that isn't worth anything... That boat on the other hand, a true beauty! I'd have to imagine she is worth the asking price!

I guess I'm the odd ball out here... though I LOVE the beautiful wood, the lines of the boat look to me like something a 12 yr old built to use on the family pond.... nothing flows. no curves, windshield frame looks like something off a 60's dune buggy or tractor... canvas work is very low end....

IF I was ever gonna take on the immense work of owning a wood boat I would want something MUCH fancier.... Something that screams "I was built by master craftsmen"

Well, it IS called a utility boat.

Well, to each his own, but I would have to disagree 1000%.

OK, the canvas is not period correct and I would lose it right away, but I'm sure the workmanship is fine. The lines of the boat are state-of-the-art for 1939 and look just beautiful. Remember, this is a utility, not a racer, so it was designed for the upper middle class, not the wealthy.

Interesesting you posted a pic of the Hacker. Did you realize that this is NOT a prize antique built by master craftsman, but rather a 1980's reproduction built with a Mercruiser inboard?

Yeah they're both awesome looking craft but if say money was no object to getting what one wants... this vessel speaks one of a kind like no other I've seen...

Watermann, that does look like someones idea of a dream boat. However, as unique as it may be, I would rather have one made from a pleasant dream rather than a nightmare. I've seen lots of houses that were built as a 'dream' house. Not always quite as nice as they could be. (For me, I should qualify)

When choosing pics I did see a LOT of newer wood boats designed to look old..... They don't bother me... beautiful is beautiful...

I probably wouldn't want another wood boat but the main thing I was trying to show was the shape of the boat....

I once owned a 1944 Clyde boat w a 60 hp ford flathead v8..... part of me says never again and part of me wishes I still had it LOL...... BTW it was nowhere as fancy as those I posted....

Have you ever seen this one on Minnetonka? I saw it on the water once - it is impressive.
