hello all.<br /> I did a really nice one years ago. I was delayed at the ramp so I was trying to catch my uncle who had a several mile head start up the albermarle sound. the boat was a 17ft 1978 cajun with a 150 inline 6 merc. crusing about 4700 rpm I noticed the trolling motor was not locked in its bracket.not wanting to slow down and figuering all I had to do was move fwd a few feet and push the head down I moved out of the helm seat and leaned fwd.that is when the safty lanyard that I had forgotten was attached to me tripped. the boat stopped and I did not<br /> I took the bow light mast off on the way off the bow. lucky I had my trusty PFD and no damage was done. was the only time I made that dumb a move that No one was watching 
usually for a stunt like that at least 15 or 20 people would have watched. anyway I dont leave the helm now until the boat is stopped and in neutral
