i have an 89 shamrock with a 302 indmar inboard engine.
i recently put new points, condenser, coil, and a resistor
my problem is .. i crank it up it runs smooth for 2 seconds then i lose spark and it dies. i see 10 volts or better in START at the coil + wire but only 1-2 volts when in RUN .
i changed the starter also with an arco 70216 and it wants me to bypass the relay as this starter has a relay on it already ....
i wonder ...if my problem lies in that area somehow....
the orange wire on my +coil goes to the old starter relay and to the resistor
the other side of the resistor is purple wires which also has 2 wires one going to the carb... and one going to the terminal block .
i thought i should see like 6 volts on the run and 12 at the start on the + side of the coil ...
also if i jump out the coil ... it purrs like a kitten
