only 2500rpms max throttle

hello, i have a problem that just started all of a sudden. when you accelerate it only gets 2500 rpms and barely moves 5-10 mph.it is a 1995 v4 evinrude 115hp 90 degree crossfeed engine. it acts like the slow is activating but this design does not have it. there are no warning horns going off or any thing ,idles fine, plenty of power up to 2500 rpmany tips or ideas on things to check would be greatly appreciated thank you.

First do a compression test and spart test. Set your tester for a 7/16" gap and look for a strong blue spark.

if compression & spark check out, then you have a classic symptom of clogged high speed jet(s). The solution is to rebuild the carbs with new kits.

Also make sure the fuel tank is free from water and debris, and the fuel line holds pressure.

thanks for the tips jtexas. i have compression and spark and the clogged high speed jets make sense . is there any way to just clean them out temporarily until i can take the carbs off? also is it possible i have th wrong power pack or the power pack could be damaged in some way limiting the rpms to 2500? also the battery went dead last time i was out at night with the fish finder on also. i jumped started it with trolling battery to get back to dock, left jumpers connected but volt guage said about 11 volts. it was charging before the batt died. could a bad batt or charging system cause this? ive only had this boat two weeks and ran it maybee 2hours total.worked perfect 4 times ot and 5th time has the symptoms.fuel primer is hard so it holds pressure......thanks
