I have just bought a 1987 Skeeter Mercury 150hp xr2 Blackmax
It has been sitting for 2 years and I first went throuh the carbs cleaned them pumped 25 gallons of fuel from the fuel cell, and now i cannot get fire on but #1,#3,#5 Cylinders #2, #4, #6 are dead no fire I have taken the coils and swaped around to the ones I was getting fire on and they still fire with the coil packs so I figure I have eliminated the coil packs now where do I go to now.
I have found a wire that was coroded and unrepairable because it has broke within this electrical box (cannot solder) it is a black electrical box located on the fuel pump side of the motor, it also wires back into the switchbox on the side of the motor it has 2 switchboxes on top of each other
ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!

Sounds like the advance module has bad wires. If it has a wire that goes to the terminals on top of the switchboxes that are jumpered together, that's the only thing it could be. Ditch it before it shorts out and grenades the power head. Max timing at cranking speed should then be about 23 degrees.

Assuming everything is wired correctly and was working once, your symptoms would be either the switchbox or the stator. Swap the blue and red wires with the blue/w and red/w wires and see if the trouble follows the wires, or stays with the switchbox.

Parts are expensive. The cable swap procedure can be verified with a DVA before committing to purchasing non returnable parts.

hope it helps
