only turns left?? please help

I am restoring a 74 thompson 18' w/ OMC 120 i/o. i was taking a break from redoing the interior and decided to check the steering and found it only turns left then goes back to center...will not turn right. anyone have suggestions?

check your steering cable friend. is it rusted down there. just replaced a friends rack and pinion setup. same issue would only turn one way. there is the alternitive three lefts do make a right... Welcome to I boats !!

start under the dash and check behind the steering wheel

It was probably setup with the Nascar steering system.

I would check under the dash first, see if you can see a problem there.

thanks for the advice guys, i didnt have time to look at it tonight but will be climbing under there tomorrow...i'll let you know how it goes. the rest of the work i have done has gone great...can't wait to get this thing in the water
