Oh, and I scored vinyl flooring for $60, so that's a thing too...Took a long time to get the glue to dry since I had the gel coat...learned that the glue really likes a wood floor so the solvent has a place to go. Live and learn.

Yeah, I am in and out on working on the boat. Last year I got it out a lot, and then the fuel pump rupter/issues sidelined me/took the wind out of my sails so to speak. I figured out the problem with the strong fuel smell, I was simply just too rich. Apparently tuning the carbs on a motor that sat for 3 years is much different than tuning the carbs on a freshly rebuilt set of carbs that were thoroughly cleaned...my orifices were probably restricted, so I was able to run the enrichment screws in much further than before...go figure. It just didn't make sense from one experience to the other until I got a little bit of clarity ( too much of a fog from the extra fuel! )

Of course, I got it out on the lake and it ran great, got a new Helix 5 on it, which is awesome to have, and then the 2nd outing the coil on #2 died again. Fortunately the Ebay seller put a 90 day warranty on it, which I'm still in that window, just waiting on a response to that. For me to have 2 failures though, I worry that there might be something else that is causing the premature failure of the coils on that cylinder, or if it was simply coincidence. Who knows.

With this heat wave we are getting right now and no covered space to work on the boat, I'm little motivated to crack a hard day on it. I'm considering a modification to the way the rear layout is, but I haven't committed to anything yet. I may draw something up and ask for opinions/ideas.

It's okay if I resurrect my own thread, right? Back from the Dead baby! Still have my boat, though it's now located in Nebraska of all places! A little scary dragging that thing down through S. Dakota...couldn't keep up with that traffic doing 85mph!
I'm in the process of finally putting my new hull ID numbers on it...what a PITA it was to get those old ones off! Took me 3 days of goof off, a white scrubber, plastic scrapers, gasoline and I just about brought out the trusty Makita and Flap discs to get it all off ( yes, the old Makita is still running as strong as ever ).
I'm 53 now, and the years of hard work have taken a few sails out of the wind, so everything is going at an absolute snails pace. I've had the boat here for almost 4 years now and haven't run the motor, so I'm going to pull the lower unit, replace the impeller for good maintenance and give the ol girl a compression test and see how she's holding up. If the motor doesn't give me any more troubles, I'm going to get some fuel for her after I get the registration finally updated and on her to hit the local lake ( which local isn't as local as it used to be, I've got to drive a half an hour to find a lake that is big enough for the old girl around here, vs falling into a wet hole to drop her in in any direction back in MN )
It's been a while since I've been on the forums, so I figured I'd better update the Glastron build. I've still got to decide on how I want to finish the upholstery, but I've got most of what I need at this point...it's now just a matter of prioritizing the time....oh yeah, I've got a garage now! So no excuses!

welcome back.

I'm 53 now, and the years of hard work have taken a few sails out of the wind,

Im a tad north of you on the scale.....currently on 1000mg B12 supplements to help stave off turning more vintage and chrome than I am. regular use of ibuprofen, aleve, ben-gay creme, heating pad, heated seats, etc. helps with some of the abuse on the body.
