OOPS! Brass fuel feeder poped out on carb....Best way to seal 76 55hp evinrude

I was removing the carbs this morning when the brass outlet from the top carb popped out while I was trying to remove the fuel line. I have two carbs and the top one has the brass fitting at the bottom, feeding the lower one. Looks like the hose gets hard as a rock when cool......I assume this was pressure fitted in the carb but what should I do to make sure it seals properly???
Also, after seeing what this alcohol resistant hose has gotten so hard, would a good automotive hose do better?

Clean the surfaces with either lacquer thinner or acetone, then (making sure of the proper angle) apply Loc-Tite to the fitting and tap it in securely.

NOTE: Loc-Tite comes in various formulas... for threads, splines, pressed fittings, etc. Usually any of them work fine though.

The hose question.... in time, they all get hard but it's a good idea to change them. The automotive hoses work fine.

Thanks! I got stupid and tried to pry it out of the hose, not realizing it would come out. I just noticed it is not straight, got bent slightly as I pulled it out....Looks like the round area is not flattened so I should be OK....Will clean use loc-tite and see what happens.
