I had to share this gem...

My buddy took these photos when he was working in Temagami, Ontario on April 17, 2009.

No further details about how/why/who but these photos speak for themself. I can only imagine the damage, and the motor I'm sure is shot come the thaw....

Did ya notice it was docked stern in?

Man, that sucks. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that in Florida. At least he doesn't have to worry about it sinking.

It's better to dock stern in if you have depth.
No doubt an abandoned "some day I'll get that damned thing fixed" boat. Lots of them around here with a foot of barnacles and moss instead of ice.

Looks like he's sinking, too. Filled up with snow? No ice grinder attached to bilge pump?
Let's not think about ice pressure against the hull.
Note that his motor is down. This is proper protocal to keep your lower unit from freezing--if there's enough depth--except for solid freeze 1 foot thick in which case the lower unit should be transported before the freeze to FLORIDA!

It's a shame that boat is a goner when it thawes. Looking at the water/ice line on the hull that puppy is likely flooded and the ice is keeping it afloat. Too bad cuz it looked like a sweet little bowrider.

There are a good hand full of boats out on my local lakes that are swamped at their docks with just the windshield above the water. It really saddens me to see them knowing how much enjoyment we get out of ours and someone is just letting theirs rot in the water tied to their dock. Life changes perspectives...

You are bang on....
The lower unit might be a problem, but I've seen much worse looking scenarios where the boat and motor were unscathed.

I was going to say the same thing. Otherwise, on those really windy days, the waves can break over the transom and flood the boat.
