oops ----want to check timing

i have a 87 sea ray with the 260 merc or 350 4- barrel .i want to check the timing on it .today i seen what happens when you run one with the timing advance to much.hole in piston

thanks ,had it checked today it was 4degrees retard,so they set it and man i gained about 3mph and better get up and go. <br /> thanks <br /> and you forgot ,it,s a good feeling when you pay the bank off,and the boat still looks good

yea paying it off next month ,its the sea ray monoco 21ft, cuddy,white and blue,the one with the two single front seats 285 hours on it right now ,and hopefulley i,ll put about 20 more on this week end ,north east ohio...i do have one propblem with it ,on the right side of the out drive i need one of those wire unites that send the reading to the trim meter.and it just broke ,can,t find one around here ,they all want to sell me the new kit. well you have a good week end and thanks.<br /> bob

But the kit, the other sender (trim limit ) is not far behind, Why doit twice? part#805320A 1 if memory serves me correct. Or do without the trim guage. Do it by feel

thats what i,ve been doing ,i,ll replace it next spring,every winter i take the out drive off and put it in the basement,i,ve doing that for years ,i know its a waste of time ,but i feel a little safer that way .

WHY DO YOU DO THAT? Are you afraid ittl get stolen? WHAT does that have to do with your trim guage?

no it has nothing to do with the trim ,to be honest it has to do with a little water left in one about ten years ago and cracked the housing.and come spring i feel more sure that the shaft is good ,oil is good and the ginble ,i have never had a problem since then , and i injoy working on them.atleast till i screw something up.i,m taking on a project this winter ,you,ll probably really think i,m crazy , a freind of mine bought to sea-doo 97 xp,s,both less then ten hours on them . his son put a for foot open crack in one of them under the right foot area.we got prices on repairs but i found a used haul for one for three hundred same year.they want 1200 to fix it.so i,m looking forward for that job. <br /> have a good weekend
