Operating Temp of My boat

Can anyone tell me the proper temp my boat is supposed to run at? Its been running at about 160 under heavy cruising and about 140-150 at below cruising speed but i've noticed that when I stop and turn the boat off the temp goes up to about 180 but when I start it up it goes back down to about 160. the engine is a 1985 merc/260/5.7

thats a normal temp. sometimes the temp bleeds through the block into the coolant after heavy use. if you idle longer after comming off of plane, it probably dont creep up that hot. thats the thermal properties of steel at work.

Sounds absolutly normal to me for a raw water cooled engine.

seems normal to me as well..i have merc 260.. and id say those numbers seem right to me..
