Virginia boaters, take note that June 28th-30th, Conservation Police Officers with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) will be patrolling Virginia's waterways looking for boat operators with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher...
this will be going on this weekend in other states as well.
ENVIRONMENTAL STRESSORS: as an experienced boater I thought I knew all about why you get doubly fatiqued on a boat all day, a few beers or not, but this video really sends it home. Good explanantions and information about various factors that impair your skills and judgment besides the obvious, and truly "it could happen to anyone" story:

Please do NOT turn this into a rant between the teatotallers and responsible relaxers. That's just so tiresome. We all try to be safe, but we need to be informed so we can make safe decisions.That's the point of the post. Not to hear your self-righteous ravings. The bad guys aren't reading your posts.
I think it would also be appropriate to thank the LEO's we see on the water for looking out for us (unless the LEO is one of those exceptions and is being a jerk).
