Well i have been wanting to write this for a while but i have been lazy taking my boat out.I gave my new 20hp suzuki a workout and i have to tell you it passed my expectations by 1000miles.It has as much power as any 2stroke i have ever used and i'm not just saying that,i have ran a ton of 2 strokes and i really thought this 4stroke would be a slug. The throttle response is instant with the efi.It runs extremely fast for just a small motor.I have a new 11 pitch prop on it and it came with a 10pitch,i'm thinking of going with a 12pitch because it has so much power so getting up near it's rpm max won't be an issue. With 700lbs in a 1436 that's rated for a 20hp and 675lbs of total weight we hit between 26 to 28mph in rough water. To me that's flying in a 1436.I think with a 12pitch prop we can hit near 30 for sure. With just me i have no doubt it can hit near 30 now.
These are all gps speeds to.I did it like 10 different times so they are accurate as can be.I'm going out on the water thrusday for my third trip,it has near 3hrs of use on it so a few more hrs of breakin and away it goes wot to all my spots. The motor is quiet, idles down very low,the power is just amazing, the features are great.Very little vibration, uses i mean very little gas.All though if you plan on going on a good trip i would switch over to a 6 gallon tank or take an extra 3 gallons like i do.We went all over by the west coast of fl near the port richey area/anclote for people who know that area.We probably went a good if i had to guess 25 to 35miles round trip on around a bit over a half tank of a 3 gallon gas tank. The thing sips gas and is awesome.
I just figured i would post this if someone was looking at getting one.I think my next boat will be a 16 or 1852 lowe jon boat with the new 30hp efi suzuki, but that's way down the road.
