Opinions on a 1979 55hp?

I have a chance to pick up an Evinrude #55975C.<br />It has not run in a while and I know what's involved with bringing it back to life, just wanted to know what the "track record" of these motors is.<br />Thanks,<br />Tom.

Do a search on "waking a sleeping outboard" and that will get you some idea where to start and what you will be getting involved in. Haven't heard anything bad about them. Have owned a '58 or '57 35hp, a '76 9.9 a '76 35hp, '91 25, and now an '83 50hp and have been pleased with all of them.
