opinions on engine choice

Hello Everyone,<br /> I'm looking to purchase a new 25hp engine, and I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on Johnson vs. Mercury. I'm looking at a two stroke, and it appears that I can get what I think is a pretty good deal on the Johnson. I know darn well however that a good deal up front is not necessarily the best deal down the line. Any opinions and why? I'm new at this.

If you likes the Johnson Doc, go for it...I don't know that you could do better in that hp range. Not to take anything away from the Mercury, it's a close race between the 2, just a matter of personal preference...just a thought

If outboard service is limited in your area, take that into consideration. If both dealers exists, take your pick.

I had two stroke Mercs and now I have a two stroke Evinrude(same as Johnson). I prefer the sound on the Johnnys and Rudes...they sound more muffled/quiet.
