i've brought back from the dead a swim platform for our 21' bayliner. this is a teak unit with hardware. i have enough hardware "in hand" to do two of the four brackets. the brackets are a "swing" style for adjustments. the idea is low cost on this project and i'll come in under 25% the cost of new but i have one question.

since installing this looks like a challenge to line everything up...i'm wondering if buying tradional "L" brackets for the two inboard may make it easiest to mount. do they give any benfits over the awkward to adjust swing aways?

does anyone have an opinion on the pros and cons of the "swing" vs the "L" style.

i have a image link if you don't know what i'm talking about. http://bayliner.carboncow.net/bracket.jpg

You'll need Some Way of taking the "Tilt" out of the Transom........
I don't know about your bayliner,
But Many boats have 7* or more built in.....
With a 90* L bracket, your swimmers will Roll Off..........

I'd Think it should be somewhat Level, with the boat at rest......

Re: opinions on new used swim platform

my old chris has a teak platform on it, it is fastened to the transom with with 2 triangle shaped brackets and two smaller L brackets near the outboard ends. as Bondo says there is a certain amount of rake so the brackets are not 90 degrees. I would just bend some larger brackets to the correct angle and then weld a diagonal to the angle brackets to hold them... hope this helps
