Re: Opinions on old boat

Fishman66,

I worked at a Stuery dealer in the mid seventies, when I was a teenager. The dealer I worked for was VERY particular about what he would sell and Stuery was the only f-glass boat they offered. He was approached by many manufacturers during my tenure.

The boats were very well constructed, albeit somewhat heavy. If it is a deep vee, they tended to be a bit of a handfull when "stuffed" into a wave. Much of that could be corrected by trimming the engine correctly. They also had a wide flare of the bow which made them ride quite dry.

Steury was somewhat of a regional (midwest) brand, yet had a strong following.

I think we have all done this. Why do we buy a
boat or something and then ask people if it is
any good.

Re: Opinions on old boat

Hey all,

New to the forum...

I have a Steury boat (18' I believe...) I have looked everywhere on the net and can't find any info on it... It looks like a powerboat (sets low in the water)

Made in 1978, 150 hp outboard, short front window (tinted) I'll try to take some pics when I pick it up (I sold the engine)...

Anyone know where some Steury pictures are.... It kinda looks like a boat that James Bond would do stunts in :D
